Day 9

Finally, our little break was over, and our work began again. We started our day like any other with a big breakfast and a morning walk to school. But today was a little different as it had finally snowed in Aabenraa 😉. Today our Professor Stephan organized a company visit to a Christmas market near Aabenraa. We had a quick bus trip there (only 20 min) and we were already there. There the third-generation owner Katarina showed us around and gave us a nice lunch. We saw different animals (pigs, goats and even reindeer), many Christmas decorations and the entire farm which has been converted into a giant Christmas wonderland. It was very beautiful and most of all impressive as the farm Is situated in Krusmølle which is only a small town next to Aabenraa. For lunch Katharine with her kitchen staff made a typical German / Danish dish (wurst with potatoes and Appels). All the ingredients were local. They also had a giant second floor shop filled with Christmas décor trinkets and alcoholic Christmas drinks. That’s where our students found some trinkets to take home with them back to Slovenia. After our visit we returned to Aabenraa at around 3pm and went back to the camp. We had a nice afternoon nap, dinner and of course as tradition we bonded over playing card games and later got ready to go to sleep. That’s how we “finished” our first Christmas day in Denmark.

Pa se je že začel naš »prvi dan na Danskem«. Zbudili smo se okoli 6.30 ter se dobili v jedilnci ter zajtarkovali. Ko smo se najedli pa smo se z našimi Nemškimi sošolci odpravili do šole. Nastopil je čas ko smo si končno lahko ogledali šolo kjer bomo kuhali nadaljnjih 14 dni. Preden pa smo začeli z našo prvo uvodno uro kuharstva pa je sledil še voden ogled šole kjer so nam prikazali vse programe tehniške šole (frizerstvo, lesarstvo, kuharsvo, umetništvo,..). Predstavili so nam našega profesorja Stephen-a in smo že prčeli z kuhanjem. Skuhali smo tradicionalno Dansko glavno jed imenovano Pariški steak (Paris steak), ki je bila zel okusna. Navsezadnje smo vse pospravli ter se odpravili na kavo ob morju. Kasneje pa je že napočil čas za večerjo po njej pa smo se še malo podružili in odšli spat.

Pa se je že začel nov dan in že so naš čakali novi izivi na »naši« novi šoli. Danas sta nas pričakala kar oba naša mojstra kuhinje, zopet smo skupa pripravili odlično na temo tradicionalne Danske kulinarike. Ker kuhamo skupaj z Nemci ki se ne izobražujejo o gostinstu nam je naše delo malo popestril z individualnim delom piprave dveh Danskih jedi. Delo smo dobro opravili, saj smo tudi pripravili te dve jedi za oba profesorja ki sta nam podala odlično oceno. Po končanem delu pa smo si ogledali še stari del mesta Aabenra, ki je bil že lepo božično okrašen in uživali v odličnih vonjavah klinčkov in cimeta. Po večerji pa nas je navdihnila želja po igranju družabnih iger, seveda smo to tudi uresničili ter se imeli zelo lušno. Dan smo pa zaključili z dobrim počitkom.

As our Erasmus experience in Denmark continues, today brought new impressions and challenges. We began the day yet again with breakfast, our most awaited morning routine. Last night seemed to be eventful as most of us were a little bit late for breakfast. The weather forecast predicted very cold temperatures today, so we dressed warmly for the occasion. As most of our students said, the morning walks are the best, as they are very peaceful and extremely beautiful because of the sunrise. We once again arrived at school at 8.10 and headed to the school’s bakery where we crossed paths with today’s teacher Tomas. Tomas was extremely helpful throughout the day, and he had a lot of good techniques and most importantly good jokes. Today’s menu consisted of an unhealthy amount of delicious baked goods (Rye bread, white bread, Pita bread and chocolate bread) and a buffe witch we prepared for ourselves Tomas and the German students. All of us were very satisfied with today’s class of baked goods...
